I tried a new recipe this past weekend. Spaghetti Squash (Spaghetti). It was awful. I took one bite and couldn’t go any further. First let’s back up a little bit because this actually has a story. I thought Spaghetti Squash meant you take squash and then make it into noodles with a fork and then poor meat sauce on top. Shoot I thought that would be simple so I went to the store, bought good ole’ squash and then brought it home and told Conner of my plan. He literally laughed in my face at the lack of knowledge I have in the kitchen environment. He laughed because 1) Spaghetti squash is not a dish alone. 2)Spaghetti squash is a type of squash 3) I did not buy spaghetti squash 4) I wanted to make a “healthy” spaghetti option by subbing turkey for ground beef. He was valid in his laughter because I am lacking in the cooking department and I do not like turkey or trying new foods. So here begins the experiment.
I followed the Pinterest recipe- Heat the Squash in the microwave for 8 minutes, brown the turkey, add tomato sauce, and sauté the squash-lings. The recipe did NOT tell me the squash would EXPLODE in the microwave mid-nuking and it didn’t tell me that forking the squash would result in a very messy counter top and floor. Man what a disaster! I still gave it a shot but with one bite I was done. The texture, the lack of taste, the turkey- all horrible. Now I know this will not be a dish added to the rotation. Chalk this 101 in 1001 recipe up to the fail blog. Better luck next time in the kitchen I suppose.
