Empire State of Mind

Things have been busy around here since we just returned from a vacation to New York City. When discussing our vacation we knew it was time to go to NYC! NYC is one of those places I have always dreamed about, seen in movies, and thought would be a whirlwind of inspiration. I even had it down as one of my 101 in 1001 things to do. Sure enough, it was everything I had dreamed of. Conner and I spent a few days jammed packed with as much site-seeing as possible. Here is a little glimpse into our trip:

First stop on the NYC tour was the Today Show to soak in all that Rockefeller Plaza has to offer (including Matt, Ann, and Al).Of course we went to Central Park while downtown, but we also made a special trip over to the Riverside Park garden. For those of you who didn’t know, You’ve Got Mail is a special movie to Conner and me. We couldn’t pass up an opportunity to scope out the spot where Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox have their final meet up. It is amazing how much a place can change and grow after 14 years of the movie being released. After our trip to the park we went to FAO Schwarz and walked by Trump Towers.

One of the best things we ate on our trip was at Serendipity 3. Another movie reference. The frozen hot chocolate was gigantic and well worth the wait! My other favorite foods from the trip were the cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery and the food from Shake Shack. We loved Shake Shack so much that we visited it twice during our trip. Some of the touristy things we did while in NYC included walking the Brooklyn Bridge and going to see the site of the World Trade Center. One of my favorite things about NYC were the views at the top of the buildings. I loved the view from the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Top of the Rock, and the Empire State Building. It was amazing to see what unique views each building gave of the city. We finished off the trip with a sunset cruise down the Hudson River. It started to rain but quickly dried off and turned the sky into a rainbow covered canvas. Spectacular!Good bye for now New York.
