Hi everyone! Thanks for following along on my 101 in 1001 days progress. This month has been all about trying new restaurants (Number 75 on the list). This month has also been about preparation. Lots of preparation for a new adventure that begins in 6 months…Marriage. Many items on my 101 in 1001 list started this month, however they are works in progress and will not be completely finished for a few months. These items include #50, #60, and #72. Number 50 was pretty time consuming this month. Part of our pre-marital counseling was a questionnaire that both Conner and I had to fill out. This resulted in hours dedicated to detailing our pros and cons of marriage, family, and plans for the future. We both successfully completed our paperwork and now are waiting to be placed with our mentor couple. How exciting! Also part of our pre-marital counseling homework was to read “5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. The book is great because it explains the fact that we all like to be “loved” differently. The book offers practical examples of how to learn to speak to your spouse in a way that is not foreign but fills their “love tank”. Here’s to #72.
Next on the list was #60. Initially I put “purge and donate old clothes” on my list in order to declutter my own things, however it is extremely important to do so with both mine and Conner’s belongings as we begin to consolidate two living spaces into one. I have gotten my belongs down to only two car loads, but that is mostly contributed to the fact that I have moved so many times over the last 6 years. Conner, however, has been living in the same place for 2 ½ years, and therefore has many car loads worth of stuff. I will admit, my a-type personality is freaking out a little bit at the thought of the “having to rent a storage unit to fit the extra stuff” conversations that have occurred over the last few weeks. Long story short, this has led my #60 to be applied to Conner’s things 😉 First up was his clothes. This was the easiest considering the big thing to purge will be the frat-tastic paraphernalia adorning his walls.
As for next month, I will:
4. Plan a surprise date for Conner
29. Transfer files from old computer.
72. Read a book for my goal of 15. Suggestions?
94. Attend a professional conference
Congratulations on your progress! I don’t know if you have already read it or not but “My Sister’s Keeper” was a great book (much better than the movie) and there are many other ones that Jodi Piccoult wrote that are also fabulous. If you are after a non-fiction book, I enjoyed “Alek”and “The Heart of Darfur”. Good luck! Looking forward to hearing what you choose!
