I have finally found a quick minute to update our faithful readers on our lives through my eyes! I’m sure you all are used to seeing Mandy’s name at the bottom of each blog post, so I decided to change it up a bit this time.
The past two weeks have definitely felt like what I expected wedding planning to be – many checks to the roadmap, lots of stuff going on, and definitely feeling productive wedding-wise. The upswing in planning/crossing things off the list started about two weeks ago in preparation for our Engagement Photos. Mandy and I wanted to be sure that her ring was as ready for the photo shoot as we were so we headed to Cumberland Diamond Exchange to have her ring cleaned and re-dipped. As a quick aside, Mandy is allergic to nickel, but prefers white gold which contains nickel. Her engagement ring is a yellow gold setting that has been dipped in a metal called rhodium so that it looks like white gold and won’t cause an allergic reaction! Every six months to a year, she will have to go have it re-dipped when the yellow gold starts to show through, but I figured that it was a small price to pay. Anyways, we went in and got that rolling and decided to look at wedding bands while we were there. I walked to the case, found a set of ones that looked cool, and had my wedding band picked out in under 5 minutes. Mandy, on the other hand, found a couple she liked and now has a good starting point for when it comes time to make our final ring decisions. All in all, a very successful trip and we both agreed it was really weird to see a ring on my finger. Definitely going to take some getting used to.
The next day, we had our wonderful photo shoot on Georgia Tech’s campus with Natosha and Nathan Ledbetter. There will definitely be more to come on this in the coming weeks, but we had such an amazing day and couldn’t be more excited to see how the pictures turn out!
Finally, we met with my aunt Jeannie this weekend and looked through her giant books to select our Save the Dates! No photos so that we don’t ruin the surprise, but we both love the style that we chose and they should be ordered in the next few weeks.
Mandy and I talked last night about how we both feel like we haven’t really done much, but when we look back at the roadmap and see all of the things crossed off the list – it is coming together that we have knocked out a big chunk of the planning! We are now just 9 months away and I know that the time is going to start going faster than we can keep up with. I can’t wait!
